Welcome to Nine Lives Media Inc. My partner (Amy Katz) and I have been around high-tech media since the early 1990s. We’re constantly mastering new media before it goes mainstream. We exploit hidden market niches, and give our sponsors new ways to reach their target audiences.
But what inspired our corporate name? And what services do we actually offer? Glad you asked. Here’s some background.
The seeds for this company were planted a decade ago, when Amy and I met at Ziff Davis Media. We became fast friends. Plus, we discovered our content and sales expertise were highly complementary. We had different career paths, but our universes kept colliding. After Ziff Davis (the name of a social network, by the way), we connected to develop custom media programs for Time Inc. (Fortune, Fortune Small Business and Business 2.0). And more recently, we had a blast working with Ziff and CMP Media veterans at Microcast Communications, where we launched online platforms and conferences for a variety of IT niches.
Now, we’re here — building Nine Lives Media Inc. Our first two media platforms are MSPmentor.net (the leading editorial destination for managed service providers) and TheVARguy.com (an irreverent blog that delivers the unVARnished truth about the IT channel). They’re off to solid starts.
Lots of folks have asked us what inspired our corporate name. In pure business terms, Nine Lives Media communicates our ability to adapt to changing business and IT media markets again and again. Remember, we embrace change. And we help our clients to profit from emerging media.
Our corporate name also reminds us of our personal priorities. We couldn’t have launched this business without the encouragement of our spouses and kids. Nine lives — Amy, me and our immediate families — gave this venture the green light.
